Meet Andy Metzger, EQUS CEO
Leadership in action.
Andy Metzger stands at the helm of EQUS, steering Canada’s largest member-owned utility into a future bright with innovation and community engagement. Before ascending to CEO, Andy spent two years on EQUS’ Executive Leadership Team, spearheading the Operations Team and groundbreaking projects like Canada’s first ultra-rural smart grid and a Near Net-Zero office, driving EQUS to unprecedented growth.
With a rich history in central Alberta’s electrical and construction sectors, Andy now guides over 100 dedicated employees across Innisfail, Onoway, Medicine Hat, and Claresholm, delivering top-notch electricity distribution to over 12,000 rural members. Under his leadership, EQUS’ values of quality, community, accountability, and knowledge provide guidance and illuminate every aspect of the organization’s culture and operations.
Beyond powering homes and businesses, Andy is deeply invested in nurturing the rural communities EQUS serves, from spearheading local sponsorships to driving sustainable solutions. His passion for community shines through personal commitments, such as his longstanding involvement with the United Way of Central Alberta and leadership roles in local educational foundations.
As EQUS looks ahead, Andy is the beacon leading the charge, championing the co-operative’s legacy while innovating for a dynamic rural Alberta future.
