Each October, we celebrate co-operatives, like EQUS, across the country and the contribution that co-ops make to our communities.
In 2022, EQUS celebrated 75 years of co-operative electricity distribution in rural Alberta with another year of record growth for our system. Since 1947, the Rural Electrification Associations that have come together to form EQUS have been powering homes, farms, businesses, and industry in our rural Alberta communities.
As a member of EQUS you have a voice and we appreciate those who take the time to share their feedback and ideas. Thank you to the hundreds of EQUS members who joined us at events over the past months including the Annual General Meetings, Member Appreciation BBQs, and Family Fun Days.
Our co-operative members not only come together as our own community at these events, they also come together to support our external communities. Thanks to the 97% of EQUS members who participate, Operation Round Up has provided over $400,000 to non-profit organizations that serve youth and seniors in our rural EQUS communities since it began in 2016.
Co-ops have been a valuable part of our communities and our economy for many years, keeping money and services in our rural communities, and providing choice to those who live and work in the EQUS Service Area. We look forward to building the future of our co-operatives and our communities, together.
