ENERGY PROVISION OPTIONS
As an EQUS member, you have three choices when it comes to your energy supplier:
- EQUS' Co-operative Energy Rate Contract: Under the Co-operative Energy Rate contract, EQUS will supply energy for five years commencing January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2025.
- Competitive (Contract) Retail Option: If you choose this option, you will purchase energy through a contract with a licensed competitive retailer who has registered with EQUS. To choose from a list of licensed, competitive retailers, please visit www.ucahelps.alberta.ca.
- Regulated Rate Option: You may choose to receive a regulated energy rate through the Regulated Rate Option (RRO). Please note, the RRO fluctuates month-to-month. If you do not sign a contract with a competitive electricity retailer or EQUS’ Co-operative Energy Rate contract, you will automatically be defaulted to the RRO.

All members are free to purchase electricity services through EQUS' regulated rate tariff or from a retailer of their choice. The delivery of electricity to you is not affected by your choice. If you change who you purchase electricity services from, you will continue receiving electricity from EQUS. Regulated Rate Option (RRO)
The Regulated Rate Option (RRO) is available to residential, farm, and small business consumers who use than 250,000 kWh/year. The RRO fluctuates monthly and is determined using a process approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission. All consumers have a choice to enter into a contract with a competitive retailer or remain on the RRO. If a consumer is not signed up with a competitive retailer they will receive the RRO.
